Everyone has learned the famouse saying"to be or not to be is a question".When facing the contract between the idealism and the pragmatism,even the philosophers and the most powerful men are hard to choose.The dilemma described in the text is just one of this,and if I were in the situation,I should listen to the superior.
Although the action contracts to my personal code of ethics,I do not think I should sacrify my future for any ideology.There is a famous saying," I will never sacrify myself for my believes,because I cannot guarantee they are right." The ethics is always changing in the history and why should we say that the absolutely honesty under any circumstance is honorable?All the people that sticked to their ideology without looking at the fact have ended in failures and jokes,which makes me think that I should not insist on the code of ethics.
And what is more,whether a man is honest depends on whether he himself cheats,but not whether he help others cheat.I don't think that a man who dares to point out the fault of the others is a hero.If I want to be a honest man,I should emphasis on my own actions,instead of my superior's.
Even I report the truth,do that mean the fault of the superior will be unveiled?I don't think so.He could use some other method to make up for his mistakes,such as ask for help from other people or even lay off me.If to sacrify my career cannot stop him from cheating,then why should I take so much risks?That is the main reason for me to cheat.
Another reason is that if I want to help enhance the moral level of the society,it is better to start when I have possossed a high status.So I should first manage to get a high rank in the company,then tell my follows to be honest.The strength of a small potato is so weak that little could be changed.
So from the analysis above,I should say that the option to cooperate with the superior is not only reasonable,but preferred.

Therefore, I would choose to stay uncommitted and report the facts to a higher level of supervisor. In addition to that, out of the respect and admire for my immediate superior, at the end of my report to this higher level supervisor, I would try to persuade him to give an opportunity to my immediate superior to confess his error.
Further, I would talk to my immediate superior in private and let him understand it is possible for anybody to make an unwanted mistake, so does him. But a person would be more trustworthy if he is able to acknowledge an error.
From my point of view, I would consider it as a case of ethical lapse. The reason for that is because it involved with a unethical action, which is a crucial component to different ethical lapse from ethical dilemma. Moreover, to meet the definition of ethical dilemma, the case needs to have two valid and also arguable sides; and the case in question can not satisfy this criteria.
