sacrificing是动名词作伴随状语,表因果,thus起连接作用
只要是逗号就是一个句子.如果thus前是句号就不能加ing了.（一个句子中只能有一个谓语动词）
thus 是一个因果关系的连词，后边用动名词是做伴随状语，和thus结合就是做一个表因果的伴随状语
