我们通常在表示主人和附属品时，人和动物时，私人或工作关系时，及事务的来源时（如国家，城市，组织等等）用到's形势。例如：
Mark's uncle has just bought a Porsche Boxter.
Mark's Uncle Frank is Sheila's oldest brother.
Pig's liver is full of iron and vitamins.
He has strange tastes: he prefers goat's milk to cow's milk.
Stan's new secretary is not even computer literate.

以上多种关系中与国家和组织的关系（可延展到一切不可动事物）通常既可以用's也可以用of来表达。例如：

和事件相关的意思也可以用's表达。例如：
New Year's Day falls on a Saturday in 2005.
Last Saturday's match was fully reported in last Sunday's News of the World.
There was twenty minutes' delay before the plane could take off.
Disneyland was seven hours' drive from where we were staying.
有时复合名词在这种情景中同样适用。例如：
